CAO Asia Pacific
Julian is Lawflex's CAO - APAC, responsible for development and implementation of LawFlex's growth strategy in the Asia-Pacific region. Having worked both in private practice and as an in-house lawyer in Asia, Julian is passionate about the development of the Alternate Legal Service Provider (ALSP) sector and its ability to open the legal market to new and innovative ways of supporting businesses in the region. Julian is excited to bring the diversity and wealth of legal talent in Israel to Asia.
Julian is an Australian-qualified lawyer with over 15 years experience studying and working in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore. Julian practiced as a corporate lawyer in the areas of M&A, IPO, direct foreign investment and general corporate advisory with leading international law firms in Shanghai and Hong Kong, prior to acting as in-house counsel and transaction manager for two Asia-based private equity funds.
Over the course of his career, Julian has advised multiple foreign corporations on their operations in Asia, managed large-scale real estate and infrastructure projects in China, formed global partnerships across a range of industries and successfully engaged with PRC government to facilitate international investments in China.
Julian is fluent in Mandarin and is able to read and write in Chinese, having undertaken contract review and drafting in Chinese for a range of corporate transactions. After completing his Chinese language studies at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou as part of a combined LLB/BA (International Studies) degree with the University of Technology, Sydney, Julian was awarded the 'Young Business Scholar in China' scholarship from the Australia-China Council of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Australia to study International Trade and Economics at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing.
